Yes scrumptious, but put a slice of cheese on first then the sardines and then grill. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I`m off to make some now.

I prefer them on saltine crackers, sometimes with a little hot sauce.

I love them too, BUT there are a couple of prerequisites:

1. they have to have the backbones removed (I do not like them crunchy!)

2. they have to be mashed with either vinegar or lemon juice

3. they have to have a liberal s***w of milled pepper.

And then...

4. no kissing! Anyone who has recently eaten a sardine smells rank! LOL! It must be the most antisocial food out of a tin! And far, far worse than "secondhand" garlic, which I also love to eat, but hate to smell on/from other people if I have not eaten some myself! BTW dentists should be banned from eating, sardines, garlic and cheese! If you sit anywhere near a colleague at work, you should also desist and restrict yourself to weekend gluttony! LOL!

divine!! i love it seared on a hot pan with some sea salt and black pepper coarsley gound on top. Then bung the whole lot, pan n all, under a hot grill till crisp and singing. Serve with french bread, or a nice thick slice of lightly toasted bread and a lovely green salad or a feta cheese salad. squeeze loads of lemon juice and a drizzle of olive oil over the whole lot!! it's soooo yummy, esp in warm weather eaten out in the garden with a nice glass of white wine!!

try adding some chopped onions and chillies and mix with sardines before toast. perhaps may stuff some sliced cucumbers for added taste. it taste yummy!

I have never had Sardines on toast, but I do like Sardines and crackers, I will havew to try it on toast next time, smelly but good

Super sardines on toast

Oily fish like tasty sardines are a good catch, rich in healthy omega 3 oils

Serves 4

Preparation time 10 minutes

Ingredients

25g butter

4 Asda pimento-stuffed olives, finely chopped

1tsp lemon juice

1tbsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, plus extra for garnish

4 thick slices ciabatta

2 x 120g can Asda sardines in oil, drained



Method

1 Preheat the grill. Mix the butter, olives, lemon juice and parsley, and season to taste.

2 Toast the bread. Put the sardines on a baking tray and grill until hot. Spread the toast roughly with olive butter and top with sardines. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Yeah, I definitely enjoy them very much. They make great snacks when I'm hungry, and you can throw in some BBQ sauce, fish flakes and shredded cheese to enhance the flavor! Yummy!

Yum - but only with a few canned tomatoes. Very healthy too! A great source of good fats.
