http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Nawaz-Malik-c88831 tips Mohammad Hafeez for T20 captaincy – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s former cricketer, Sarfraz Nawaz, has laid his support for all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez to lead the national T20 team. The fast bowler believes Hafeez is the right candidate for the job and he should be the one succeeding
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, the current T20 skipper of Pakistan.
Nawaz has called for axing of Misbah, 37-year-old batsman, from the T20 team. However, the former cricketer held that the Misbah should remain the skipper of ODI and Test sides, as Pakistan has done exceptionally well in those
two formats under his stewardship.
While talking to media at Gadaffi stadium, Sarfaraz said, “It is the right time to groom a captain for T-20 and I think Hafeez is the right choice and in my opinion Misbah ul Haq's leadership be curtailed to one day and test matches.”
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has often been criticised for sticking with Misbah as the skipper in T20. Critics argue that Twenty20 is not a game for old horses and the 37-year-old should not be the skipper, or a member of T20 squad.
Sarfraz seems to accord with such claims. The 63-year-old, who was holding a camp of fourteen pacers at Gaddafi stadium, also called for Hafeez to be appointed as Misbah’s deputy in ODI and Test matches.
He said, “Besides Hafeez be appointed as the vice captain of one day and test teams because it is the right way to enhance his confidence and to prepare him for leadership. Change always takes place and if it is carries out at
right time it helps in building a team and a captain.”
Hafeez has been the most consistent performer for Pakistan in the last couple of years. The 31-year-old, who bowls off-spin and is an opening batsman, is currently ranked fourth in the T20 all-rounder’s category. He is the second
Pakistani all-rounder in the top five, behind the leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, who is placed second.
When asked if Shahid Afridi, who has already lead http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Clark-c2591 said, “Afridi should concentrate on improving his performance and it will be better if he confines himself to T-20
cricket only.”
