Former Pakistani pacer, Sarfraz Nawaz, has asked Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Patron-in-Chief, President Asif Ali Zardari, to review Zaka Ashraf’s appointment as the head of national cricket's
governing body.
In his two-page letter to Zardari, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 is facing serious corruption charges in the country’s highest court of law, it is not a good idea to hand over the reins
to him.
'It was pointed out by the British media that Mr. Ashraf was facing corruption charges in the highest court (Supreme Court) of Pakistan. I was really embarrassed to learn this and had no proper
answer,' Sarfraz wrote.
The ex-head of a state-owned bank, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL), was appointed as the PCB Chief by Zardari last month, after the departure of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 – a former Test cricketer, who shouldered
his responsibilities for three years.
Butt remained the subject of criticism throughout his tenure, as a lot controversies such as the spot-fixing scam and the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team, transpired during his regime.
Since cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has been facing grave problems recently, Sarfraz feels that it needs an able man to clean the mess.

Hence, he requested the President to take the charge back from Ashraf and give it to someone professional and honest.
'I understand that the summary moved in this regard may not have indicated the true credentials and suppressed vital facts. I earnestly request you to revisit this case and appoint an honest,
dedicated, upright and knowledgeable person as chairman of the PCB. The proposed course of action will save the country from further embarrassment,' added the former fast bowler, who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of reverse-swing bowling.
According to the report by a local newspaper, ZTBL’s senior vice president, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nadeem-c77112 Chohan, has filed a petition against Ashraf in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, accusing him of misusing
his power and committing irregularities during his term as the head of the bank.
It has been learnt that Ashraf is close friend of the President of Pakistan – somebody with an authority to choose anyone as the boss of the cricket board.
