Former Pakistani fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to cut down the number of officials with the national team for the tour of Zimbabwe, later this month.
The 16-man squad for the tour of Zimbabwe was named last month but the officials were named recently. The most notable change in the management of Pakistan cricket team is the removal of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380 as the manager. Naveed Akram Cheema
is going to replace him as the new manager of the national team.
Former fast bowler and bowling coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Aslam-c89364, were also neglected for the Zimbabwean tour.
Sarfraz said that it is a good decision by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 because Intikhab can be more useful in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) because of his vast experience as a former cricketer and an administrator of the game.
While talking about the absence of Aaqib, Sarfraz feels that it is not going to make a huge difference as the tour of Zimbabwe is very short and the bowlers can be guided in the camp, which is going to be conducted before the departure
of the team.
Sarfraz said, “Intikhab is needed in academies. It’s a wise decision from chairman because nobody is left to guide in academies when such officials leave for team’s duty. I don’t think his [Aaqib’s] absence will hurt. It’s a short tour
where no coaching is needed. There will be a coaching camp before the tour. As far as assessment of young talent is concerned, it can be made from home also.”
Cheema, who is going to replace Intikhab as the manager, thanked the board for showing faith in him and said that his first and foremost goal is to make sure that the team gells well on the tour and plays as a unit. In order to maintain
discipline in the national team, Cheema said that he will be taking help from Intikhab, who goes along well with Cheema.
“I am grateful for the confidence reposed in me by PCB. I will be seeking advice from my predecessor [Intikhab] Alam, who is also a dear friend,” Cheema said.
