Saria as a forest sage?

Question

So I was playing wind waker and I got up to the point in the earth temple where you meet the old sage. And it's a guy named Fabo (wasn't he in ocarina as the obnoxious one who had a crush on Saria? But I digress)

The thing is Ocarina happened before Wind waker and in it Saria was a sage. The Kokiri never grow up (thus they live forever) so shouldn't Saria have been the sage they mentioned instead of the Fabo guy?

actually Saria was a sage in Ocarina of Time, and since Windwaker was years after Ocarina of time, things have changed over the coarse of time, so the gods must've aknowledged Fabo as a sage. Kinda hard to describe since there had been a lot of change from one zelda time line to the next since there had been a lot happening. sorry i couldn't answer your question any better, but what i said above is what i could think of.
