The Bayer Leverkusen joint manager has admitted that he is not satisfied with his side’s 2-0 win over Greuther Furth earlier this weekend.
Werkself secured an unconvincing 2-0 victory over Greuther Furth in their most recent Bundesliga clash at the BayArena on Saturday, September 29. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sidney-Sam-c33476 scored a brace in the second-half for the home side as the Factory Squad
garnered all three points at the end of the game.
Lewandowski was critical of his side’s performance in the fixture and insisted that the players did not play up to their full potential. He stated that the side could have performed better and has called for instant improvement
for the next clash.
The tactician admitted that the display was better in the second-half and praised the side’s attacking ability after the interval. He stressed that the team should bring consistency in their performances and wants the side to step
up for the future games.
“It wasn't easy in the first half. Furth set about the task really well, were very compact in their own half and allowed us very little space. We played too slowly and clumsily. After the break we were slightly better; we were
quicker and more forceful and used the space effectively,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Greuther Furth manager Mike Buskens claimed that his side were poor in the second-half. He admitted that the result would have been different if Furth played better in the second period, and wants the team to
learn from their mistakes.
“After playing such an organized first half we've come away with nothing, that's annoying. Bayer waited for errors and unfortunately we handed them the 1-0 lead. We have to work hard and minimize those basic errors,” he concluded.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently in seventh place on the Bundesliga standings table with ten points from the first six games played. They have won three, lost two and played one draw thus far in the domestic league.
Werkself will next travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 for their Bundesliga clash on Sunday, October 7, at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.
