a satalite is orbiting the earth at 7.8km/s with a radius of 6500km

a)what is the acceleration of the satalite

b)if the satalite is a mass of 1000kg, whats the force acting on it

  1. The acceleration of satellite is completely centripetal.

    So,

    acceleration = ((velocity)^2)/radius = (7.8*1000)^2/(6500*1000)=9.36

    Force = mass * acceleration = 1000*9.36 =9360N
