Hi guys,

Look, I know this sounds like a stupid question, but.. Is there a way I can watch my house LIVE via satellite on the internet? I know I can get stll images of it in the past, but I'm really looking for LIVE coverage. Does anyone know how or where I can do that?? Is it possible????

  1. no, there is no such animal.

this question is asked repeatedly around here, and the answer is the same every time. i leave it to you to decide on a suitable adjective.

  2. you need one of those military satellites that can see a fly in madison square garden.  the general public does not have access to these unfortunately.  too risky.

  3. Ya, spend a few billion on designing, building, and launching a satellite.

To my knowledge you can't get a get a telescope in geosynchronous orbit while allowing it to see the Earth's surface with any useful detail. The satellite will need to do sweeps going above the poles unless you live close to the equator. As for using a commercially owned satellite for a few minutes I don't think you could even do that. There is very little use for video cameras facing Earthward for any company.

  4. No.  To do that, we'd need probably more than a million satellites in orbit to watch every bit of land all the time.  We don't have that.  And if we did, it would be for defense purposes and you wouldn't be able to get access to it.

  5. Some of the commercial satelites will offer 'camera time'

    but it'll cost you.
