Satellite Question?

I have starchoice and I just bought a third reciever box. I told the guy at futureshop that we only have a dual dish and that I needed a satellite splitter. He gave me one that I'm pretty sure is just for normal cable. It says 5-1000 MH-z, three way splitter. Will this allow me to split the cables before the boxes....or is the guy at futureshop a dumba$$

  1. The signals between LNBs and IRDs operate in the IF band (or L band) of intermediate frequencies, generally 950 to 2150 MHz. When working with signals between the antenna (dish/LNB assembly) and the receiver (IRD) you must use signal distribution equipment (switches, splitters, etc.,) that is designed to operate over the IF band (or L band.) As you suspected a 5-1000 MHz splitter is a CATV splitter and is NOT suitable for use with satellite systems.
