  1. i got mine installed at Fry's Electronic Store

    my car is 2003 Honda

  2. Geoff's answer is excellent. I would add that a local auto stereo store (the kind that make cars into boom boxes) might do it a little cheaper.

But you have to buy the receiver - and most of them come with an antenna.

  3. You can't just buy the antenna, you need to have the satellite radio tuner as well.  The factory stereo is indeed XM ready, but you have to get Honda's XM tuner kit.  You can get it from your dealer and they'll probably want to install it.  Each dealer can set their own prices for parts but the retail cost is $295.  This Honda dealership online sells it for $231.60.  You might be able to get it for less since you don't need the antenna, just the harness and tuner.

As for installing the antenna, on my Fit S, I put the antenna in the rear drivers side corner and run the coax in through the hatch, but in my other car I put the antenna as far back as possible, then run the coax between the moulding and the glass of the rear window.  It goes around the glass into a gap between two metal panels and into the trunk.  I run it underneath the carpet or between the plastic moulding by the doors and the carpet until I get to the front and then take it behind the dash under the steering wheel back into the radio.  That's for an aftermarket radio.  I'm not sure where they mount the XM ready tuner in the Civic, it could be in the trunk and that'd save you a lot of headache!
