Satellite claims it's better than cable;cable claims it's better than satellite.Which is better?

I've had both, and I prefer satellite -- it's generally cheaper and

provides a better selection.  The biggest drawback -- rain fade

-- isn't really too serious.  Your cable company has a monopoly

in your area and, like most monopolies, is corrupt.

It really depends on the programming you like to watch.  Cable has a lot more "on demand" programming where you get your programs when you want them.  Satellite (DirectTV) has much more HD programming and sports packages like NFL Ticket.  Cable has a few digital channels whereas ALL channels are digital with Satellite giving you a better picture.  Since neither is THAT much cheaper than the other I prefer Satellite hands down and have had it for 10 years.

One other note, don't buy all the "Satellite goes out when it rains and it's cloudy" nonsense.  If your Satellite is installed correctly with a strong signal this rarely happens.
