i find that im almost never satisfied with my writing, for example, at some point i might read back what i wrote a while ago, and although in retrospect according to many people (and perhaps grades received) i may have done well, i still cringe at it. can anyone here relate to this? is this maybe a natural thing?thanks

  1. Oh yes I certainly can relate to that, I recently started to post some of my poems, while the whole time cringing  while doing the post!

Your not alone! Really do hope you feel enough confidence to post your work and any kind of criticism take as being the helpful kind!!   I really do wish you the very best !!!  Cheers !!!

  2. I wrote a poem about two years ago that was widely praised for its detail and overall quality - everyone loved it, and I truly thought I did a great job.  However, about a month ago, I dug up the poem and I almost couldn't finish reading it because I had improved so much that it seemed so elementary to me.  I almost can't read it anymore (I definitely understand the cringe).  Anyway, I now use it as a reference point to gauge how much I've improved.  Maybe you can do the same with your poems.

  3. Well, it's natural for you.

I suppose you keep thinking I can do better than that and why haven't I or how could I have possibly written that - that's not even me or how I am thinking now.

Maybe it's just a process of growth.

Anyone it's good to have goals and to keep trying to be better.

On the other hand, I am usually pleased with what I wrote - even the old poems. In fact, I am still amazed that I can write.
