Satoru Terada expects Suzuki back in MotoGP in the 2014 season – MotoGP news
Satoru Terada MotoGP project leader of Suzuki told that Suzuki wants to make a comeback in 2014 and they are working hard about it, but the final decision still remains with the top management.
He said that it is not confirm yet but the final depends on the top management as they provide the finances for the project.
Terada told Motosprint, “I must say that we haven't been given definitive confirmation yet, because the final decision is up to top management, as that's where the budget comes from.”
He added that such decisions are finalised at the top level and the people working in the departments cannot do anything about it. Furthermore, he said that after a year the top management has understood that the team can get back to MotoGP.
“These decisions are made at the top level: the people working in the racing departments can't do anything. However, after a year of reflection, the top management, too, has now understood we can start over,” he said.
The project leader of Suzuki said that Suzuki has a long history in grand prix racing. He added that no one liked it when Suzuki decided to suspend MotoGP at the end of 2011.
Terada said, “Suzuki has a long history in grand prix racing, it has practically always raced, and nobody liked the decision to suspend the MotoGP project at the end of 2011.”
Furthermore, he said that the target to rejoin MotoGP in 2014 is realistic and achievable. He added that in order to give impressive performances on the circuit they want to do things well.
Additionally, he told that they have redesigned the engine and this means an entirely changed project. He further said that he is not in favour of wildcard entries in 2013. He wants to enter MotoGP as by lodging an entry in the championship.
Besides, Terada said that he is not happy with the performance of the prototype of Suzuki. He added that it is not that the targets they in mind are extraordinary. In addition, he said that they have just started and they are targeting to enter MotoGP in
2014, therefore there is ample time.
Moreover, he said that the bike is still a prototype and is used to gather data required to build their final bike. He added that it is important for them that the passion to race has not diminished when they were not racing. He said that they are trying
their best to make it to MotoGP in 2014.
