Saturday lunch in Paris???

What would you recommend? Nothing touristy, please. I would like to have lunch at one of the classically elegant Parisian restaurants. Have limited time because I have to catch a plane, only have 8 hours there.

Would love some suggestions.

Thanks!

  1. For a great lunch go to the Marais and get yourself some DELICIOUS shwarma / falafels.

For proper french food- the best places to go are the brasseries get yourself a real french meal with saucise frites (sausage and fries) or poulet-frites

it also depends on what are you are in and where you would like to spend your time.

for a glam french meal go to any of the cafe costes. they are so chic. If the weather is nice you can sit outisde, sip on some fresh juice and enjoy the most delicious crab and avocado salad.

  2. From an earlier question you asked I know that this is an 8 hour layover at CDG. If you intend to follow the advice given in my response to your previous question then I suggest you have lunch at Restaurant Allard at 41, rue St-André-des-Arts.

As you stand facing the Seine by the blvd. St. Michel with Notre Dame to your right front, the rue St. Andre des Artes will be to your left rear. Its a little street that intersects St. Michel and forms a small plaza. Just head down St. Andre and Allard will be on the left hand side of the street at the intersection of the rue Eperon.

Allard has been around since the 1940's and serves classic French fare.

Have the Bresse Chicken served with a sauté of wild cèpe mushrooms. Its excellant.

    You might want to fax ahead for a reservation. The fax# is 01 46 33 04 02.

  3. The really good ones are not open for lunch.

Try the Bistro a Gare du Nord

or go to one of the better hotels.

Do not, no matter what you do, go to any of those restaurants in the 16th by the Diana memorial; they will try to charge you 100 Euros for a coke.

Most all restaurants in Paris are good. I agree with the first poster.

  4. Also agree with the first poster but if you can manage it, definitely eat at La Tour de Argent. Make a reservation and go for lunch as this place is expensive and Always crowded. It can take up to 4 mos for a reservation on a Sat night. The food is magnificent. This is what Paris is about. The chef has competed on Iron Chef and won hands down. You will not be dissappointed in the food!!!

  5. when will u be there, if nice and fun enough, i'll invite u to a pure, classical Parisian resaurant, 8 hours are enough...

  6. The Cafe by the sidewalk is excellent../

  7. Get a table outside, get a bottle of wine.  Lots of places like that in Paris.  Telling you to find a specific one is silly.
