Saturday night's game?

I hear every commentator and every member of the Pen's organization state that the outcome of saturday's game was not because the Redwings played really well, but because the Penguins played poorly... is this fair to detroit?... would you consider those statements to be accurate?

  1. I wouldn't consider it accurate, but I can't same I'm surprised, I mean really, every series we've won, h**l every game the Wings won was because of "a lucky bounce" or because" the other team was tired, or just had an off day".

Yeah I remember that, I mean the thing is, is that, yeah there have been lucky bounces for the Wings, such as the Lidstroms half ice goal, but every team has bounces that help (like you mentioned, theh Preds one). I guess all the Wings can do is win by facing a "tired team" by getting lucky bounces and by a an overrated goalie who has the best GAA in the regular and post season. What can ya do?

  2. Nah...This coming from a diehard Pens fan...The Pens flat out got their a$$es kicked by a very good Detroit team. I can't make any excuses for them because you aren't going to beat any team when you get a total of 7 shots in the last 2 periods.

Detroit was the better team in game 1 but if the Pens come out firing like they did in the 1st period the other day they will get 1 or 2 behind Osgood. If this happens they will head back to the Burgh tied 1-1

    LETS GO PENS

  3. Simple gary bettman's threatened to fire anyone who points the pens and his g*y lover suck.

  4. Ya Detroit played bad.... Thats why the won....OK

Pens played their best for that game. They will play better but so will the Wings!

  5. Absolutely yes! The Pens did what they needed to in the first. They used there speed to create chances. Some will argue the Pens had that lay off, however so did Detroit. The difference in the first was the crowd for one and Osgood stood up to the challenge. The Wings came out a bit flat hence the bad penalties they took. Detroit is not a fast starting team on most nights. It takes time for them to get going and it showed. Once they found there groove, they settled down and played Detroit Red Wing hockey. The fact that they held Pitt off he score sheet in the first was a momentum shift. Although Pitt came out flying , there youth and inexperience showed through as they gave up the rest of the game and it cost them. Pitt needs to get a quick goal and build back there confidence in order to remain in this series, period. The Pens had several good chances and yet came away empty-handed. they progressively fell apart, due to Detroit experience and defense.

With that being said, neither team played to there potential, and hopefully it will only get better throughout the series, for both teams for us fans!

  6. No it's not fair to Detroit.  Detroit is a GREAT team.  Very experienced, very focused, and has so much talent.  I don't understand why people think they are not as good as they really are.

  7. @Forrest

I remember one of the ESPN.com guys (I think) wrote an article after one our games against the Preds about how Detroit got all the lucky bounces.

It was the game where they scored twice in like 36 seconds or so, and the first goal was when the puck was dumped in by the Preds and it took a funny bounce off of the glass and went straight in front of the open net - Hasek went to get it behind the net - and the Preds player just had to tap it in.

I just had to shake my head at the ignorance of some of the writers.  People forget to use logic when talking about something so emotional, and it's almost painful to read.
