does anyone else think shivnarine chanderpaul batted in more of a test style when he reached 49 off 48 which is stupidly slow when you think that napier faced 10 more balls to get over 100 more runs

  1. may be situation was different

  2. he should have taken more risks, its 20/20 , the aim is to bat as hard as you can and take risks even if it means giving your wicket away - Napier hit it big on Saturday and got caught , its all about risks.

  3. I agree with One In A Million, but I also think that Middlesex stopped Durham from scoring masses - their spinners helped slow things down. Chanderpaul's aim was probably to stay in, and just keep the innings together.

Napier had support that night from both Gallian and Foster, and of course, that innings, well - it was blooming incredible.

  4. Chanderpaul was playing more of a supporting role - thats why he batted more slowly!! In cricket its important to understand ur roles and perform those roles - chanderpaul did that very nicely!!

  5. If a run a ball is test style, then i would love to watch the same test cricket as you do

Chanderpaul should have started to accelerate once he reached over 25, his job was to bat through the innings so that the team could bat round him. Unfortunately he got out so he didnt play the anchor role too well, but remember if he had tried to be agressive early on, and got out then Durham could have made even less.

Also it wasnt just Shiv who wouldnt scoring quickly!

    Collingwood score 35 off 31

    Smith 21 off 20
