Sauber CEO Monisha Kaltenborn praises her team efforts in 2011 F1 season so far – Formula 1 news
Sauber CEO Monisha Kaltenborn seems quite confident at the moment that her team can regain the sixth position in the championship battle, which they lost in the last few races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
She is the first and the only woman to have joined the Formula 1 group and feels that with her becoming a part of this sport. She has set an example for other women who aspire to join this sport.
Kaltenborn hailed her team for putting in their best efforts in the ongoing season.
Kaltenborn said, “Our aim for 2011 was to make a clear improvement over 2010. We had a strong first half of the season overall.”
The team had a very strong first half of the season, however it later lost the pace that it had build up and lost points on the constructors’ standings.
“However, since then various factors have conspired to cost us points and chip away at the advantage we'd built up earlier in the year.” She said.
Kaltenborn made it very clear that for the next three races the team’s prime target will only be to regain their sixth position which they had lost in the last few races.
She expects Sauber will climb up to sixth spot before the end of this season.
The team had to face a setback, when Force India pushed them to the sixth place. However, the Hinwil-based team is now all-set to reclaim its lost position.
The Force India-Mercedes team is leading by 9 points in the 2011 title fight.
At the recently held 2011 Korean Grand Prix, the team’s drivers Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi finished off the race at 16th and 15th position respectively.
The Indian born CEO is very excited about the upcoming debut session of the Air Tel sponsored Indian Grand Prix, at the Buddh International Circuit which is due to take place on October 30, 2011.
She expressed her joy for the upcoming race weekend and commented, “Wonderful sporting occasion and the Sauber F1 team to contribute to the excitement of the spectators by putting in a good performance.”
