Sauber Chiefs express their pleasure over the Malaysian Grand Prix result – Formula 1 news
Sauber chiefs are excited about the team’s best result and the financial gains coming from it.
Sergio Perez helped his team secure a second place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The team is upbeat over the financial gain and hope that the money keeps rolling in through good performances, as it one of the teams in F1 that are stricken with financial
woes.
Formula 1 is a high maintenance sport and finances are scarce for some teams involved. The team has been working hard to strike a deal with some investors so that the team can have more finances, but have not find the right deal as yet.
The teams owner Peter Sauber and CEO Monisha Kaltenborn are hoping that the second place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix can lure those investors to have another look and hopefully strike a good deal with the team.
“There are a lot of teams here that have financial problems,” explained Sauber. “That is normal in this business. For sure good results, like the last one [in Australia] and this one, helps to find new partners.”
“We hope people see that now, and we hope it gives us a certain boost. But we have to take it race-by-race,” he added.
Kaltenborn realising that performing in the pre-season tests is one thing and actually performing in the season is another. She said that she is very happy to see the potential of the car materialise. The car has pace and reliability and Perez made the car
deliver the goods.
She added that it was important to be confident and understand what the team is capable of, that way the team can bring in the results. If a team does not bring in the results there is something wrong with its efficiency and that can result as a negativity
in the team.
“You need that confidence; you need that stability. So to get this kind of result gives you the confidence and gives the team the confidence that what we are doing is the right way. It shows the world that we know what we are doing and we believe in this
way,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how Sauber shapes up as the season progresses. The next race is in China in under two weeks from now.
