Sauber-Ferrari F1 team expect to be competitive at Chinese Grand Prix which is going to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on April 15, 2012.
Giampaolo Dall'Ara, the head of Sauber’s track engineering has expressed that he is confident that their car C31 will prove out to be capable enough in the third GP.
Moreover, Dall’Ara said that the track of the third race demands more balancing and braking stability. He also said that the tyre durability will not be an issue. However, he said that there are chances of high levels of wears at the start of the weekend.
“The Shanghai International Circuit is a very demanding track. Its peculiarities are several sections with a combination of braking and lateral forces as well as traction and lateral forces. This puts some demands on the car with regards to braking stability
and overall balance,” said Dall’Ara.
Furthermore, he said that weather conditions can be tough at Shanghai. Nonetheless, he asserted that he feels positive for the race ahead while he said that they will come up with some upgrades as compared to the second race.
“The car will have some minor modifications compared to the one we ran in Malaysia. I'm confident we can be very competitive in the race,” said Dall’Ara.
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is enthusiastically looking forward to the next race in China. Nevertheless, he said that they still need to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations for the season ahead in order to enhance
the pace of the car.
“We all have to keep our heads down and work hard. Our car can be competitive and we have to make the most of it,” said Perez.
It will be interesting to mention here that Perez secured an incredible second podium finish in the second GP held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia after following the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Besides, he is the first Mexican driver who has secured a podium finish in the last 41 years while he has been compared with the legendary Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna.
Additionally, Perez’s teammate, Kamui Kobayashi expressed that he is feeling good for the Chinese GP.
