Sauber-Ferrari’s CEO Monisha Kaltenborn joins F1 in Schools as esteemed patron – Formula 1 news
Monisha Kaltenborn, the CEO of Sauber-Ferrari has joined F1 in Schools, the F1 technology challenge as an esteemed patron of global educational initiative.
Kaltenborn will share the honour with the remarkable personalities of the sport which include McLaren’s team principal Martin Whitmarsh, Red Bull Racing’s technical director Adrian Newey, Caterham’s technical director Mike Gascoyne and Mercedes’ team principal
Ross Brawn.
Moreover, the most prominent woman in the world of motorsport, Kaltenborn expressed that F1 in schools is a great programme for the students to learn about motorsport who want to pursue in this career in future.
“F1 in Schools is an excellent educational programme which is introducing students to the many disciplines needed for careers within motorsport, offering an exciting and practical competitive environment to learn key skills used in racing, particularly within
the engineering sector,” said Kaltenborn.
It will be important to mention that this is a unique programme which has been aimed to introduce friendly methods to the students so that they may learn about their career inclinations regarding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEMS).
Furthermore, the students receive instructions to design an F1 car by using CAD or CAM. Afterwards, the car is being manufactured by using a CNC machine.
Subsequently, a group of three to six students present their work to the panel of judges which is then tested on a special track.
The Indian is also a member of the Women in Motorsports Commission and has said that this scheme will open doors for the young girls to come into autosport. She added that she earnestly hopes to see women taking part in the F1 championship in near future
and striving to claim victories.
 “I truly believe that this initiative will help to attract girls to be engaged in motorsports. I don’t see any reason why girls should not be successful there. What they need is the necessary level of support from their environment. I really hope to see
a woman competing in Formula One in the future, fighting for victories,” she said.
Over and above, this programme is providing great learning opportunities for the student around the world who has interest in motorsport.
