Sauber aim to perform well in the 2012 Japanese GP – Formula 1 news
Sauber are looking forward to perform well in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix and are confident that they will attain competitive results as Suzuka circuit really suits their car.
Sergio Perez of the Swiss team has said that although they faced few difficulties in the Singapore GP because there update package didn’t provide the required boost in the car’s pace at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Nevertheless, he is not feeling upset over
the result of the last race and is positively aiming to score some good points in Japan next weekend.
It will be important to mention that the Mexican driver has recently signed a multi-year deal with McLaren as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement and will drive as Jenson Button’s teammate from 2013 onwards.
“After underperforming in Singapore, in Japan I am expecting our car to again to be as good as it used to be and we should be strong in the high-speed corners,” Perez said.
Furthermore, he said that they are all very excited about the approaching race as it is going to be held in the homeland of his teammate, Kamui Kobayashi and are expecting some great love and support from the Japanese fans.
“The circuit has got some quite nice sections and corner combinations. Thanks to the Japanese fans the atmosphere there is really great and our team gets a lot of support because it is Kamui’s home race. I am very much looking forward to it,” he added.
On the other hand, Kobayashi has said that the race ahead is very important for him and he is eagerly waiting to deliver his best performance next weekend. He also said that their hopes are high and they are confident that their upgrades will provide the
expected improvement in the pace on the track of the forthcoming race.
“I think our car should be very fast there and we also will get new parts on C31 for the Japanese GP, said Kobayashi.
Presently, the Hinwil based team is standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship. Additionally, they are ahead of Force India and are behind Mercedes. Let’s see how they perform in the remainder of the season.
