Sauber aim to perform well in the remainder of 2012 – Formula 1 news
Sauber team principal, Monisha Kaltenborn has said that they are aiming to perform well in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season so as to secure competitive position in this year’s championship fight.
Kaltenborn said that they are targeting to beat Mercedes in this year’s championship and are trying their best to reduce the gap to the Brackley based team in the forthcoming races.
Moreover, she said that it will not be easy to fight with the Silver Arrows as they are a very competent side, nevertheless, she insisted that they have full confidence in their abilities and they are positively looking forward to come up even stronger in
the upcoming races.
Furthermore, she said that it is very important for them to attain good points in all the remaining races to achieve the desired position in this year’s championship battle.
In addition, she said that they are hoping to see improvement in their car’s pace in the Indian Grand Prix which is to be held at Buddh International Circuit on October 28, 2012 and are targeting to take the most out of their updates.
“It is clear we want to score a lot of points, be it in India or at any of the remaining four races,” Kaltenborn said. “Technically the track in Greater Noida should not be a problem for the C31, but it isn't our favourite either. We have to stay focussed
and maximise our potential there.”
It will be important to mention that Kamui Kobayashi of the Hinwil based team could not score even a single point in the Korean Grand Prix as he was retired. On the other hand, his teammate, Sergio Perez struggled throughout the race and failed to score
any points as he came 11th in the charts.
Nonetheless, the Mexican driver is not feeling upset and is expecting to be quicker in the approaching race.
“To make up 20 points to finish fifth in the Constructors' World Championship means we have quite a job to do. The race in India should be a bit better for us than in Korea, and our car will be quicker there,” Perez said.
