Sauber director James Key admits their pace was not good in Canadian GP – Formula 1 news

Sauber director James Key has admitted that the pace of their car, C30, was not good during the Canadian Grand Prix and due to that, the team could not finish their race on the podium.
He also mentioned that after restarting the race due to heavy downpour, the team driver Kamui Kobayashi could not manage his race on the wet Canadian track. Before the stoppage, Kobayashi was moving in the right direction and was in second place behind Sebastian
Vettel of Red Bull.
The team director further said that once the track dried, the car’s downforce was decreased and the driver lost his position.
He went on to add, “Unfortunately we were in a situation where we couldn't use the DRS because we were at the front of the back, and our straightline speed wasn't good because we were on the higher downforce level. We never really got an opportunity to have
a go back.”
James admitted that his driver did very well on the supersoft tyres in the Montreal race weekend and that they were quite competitive before the heavy rain.
Sauber driver Kobayashi started his Montreal race from the 13th place on the starting grid. The Japanese driver told the media that the supersoft tyres did not provide him an easy run on the wet track. Due to that, he had to suffer and ended up
at the seventh place.
Sauber’s director also said, “We kind of know what it is - it's a combination of things. But it was a bit worse than I thought it would be here. It's not our track at all. So to come out with a seventh place, we can't complain at all. It's just that it could
have been a bit higher if things had worked in our favour in the race.”
After an unsatisfied race weekend in Montreal, the team is planning to make their car perfect for the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
