Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi feels good for 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber-Ferrari driver Kamui Kobayashi says that he is feeling positive for Chinese Grand Prix which is going to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on April 15, 2012.
Kobayashi, after starting from 13th place on the grid, secured sixth position in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
However, in the second race held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he could not score even a single point as he was retired during the race after setting off from 17th position in the grid.
On the other hand, his teammate, Sergio Perez secured an amazing second podium finish after following the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Nevertheless, he has expressed that he is looking forward for the next race despite an unfortunate second GP at Sepang.
“I always have a good feeling for this grand prix,” Kobayashi said. “I really like the circuit near Shanghai because I enjoy its high speed corners very much, and as well as that they should suit our car. Last year the race was great fun and I scored a point
after having started 13th.”
Furthermore, he said that they will hopefully be able to use the tyres well enough in the third race. However, he admitted that he was well aware of the fact that every contender will come prepared for the tussle in the next GP.
“The track temperatures might be lower than recently in Malaysia, as I expect them to be more like they were in Melbourne, and this also should be better for us and the tyres, but we have to see how it is once we are there,” said Kobayashi.
Nonetheless, he said that regardless of what happens, he will come with a position frame of mind. He added that it will be interesting to see that with what kind of upgrades each teams will come up with in the race ahead at Shanghai.
The Japanese driver is at ninth position in the drivers’ championship so far with 8 points. Additionally, he said that he is keenly looking forward for the race in China while he said that during the three-week time, he has been having training sessions
in Japan with their physiotherapist, Joseph Leberer.
