Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi hoping for a fast German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has said that he is hoping for a fast-paced 2011 German Grand Prix at the legendary Nurburgring circuit as he loves fearless driving.
“I have only raced once at the Nurburgring, and this was when I drove in GP2 in 2009. In those races I finished ninth and third. I remember it being quite a tricky and difficult circuit because it goes up and down quite a lot. Nevertheless, I expect with
it being a fast track again, like Silverstone, it should be good for us,” he said.
The German Grand Prix is expected to take place on July 24, 2011 and since Sauber have been performing really well in the 2011 Formula 1 season, the team is hoping for some pretty good results at the Nurburgring circuit. Both of their drivers Kamui Kobayashi
and Sergio Perez are fast drivers and even the Sauber car suites the fast-paced circuits more.
“We know in high speed corners we are very strong, so hopefully we can show a good performance again. I'm very much looking forward to it. I also like swapping the tracks in Germany as it is nice to have a variety,” he added.
Both Kobayashi and Perez are young drivers and both of them have been performing really well up until now in the season. They have scored a total of 33 points as a result of which they are currently in 6th place in the constructors’ standings
even though the team was disqualified after scoring a double point finish at the 2011 season opener Australian Grand Prix.
Kamui was given the best young driver of the year award as well in the 2010 Formula 1 season and he is currently in 11th place in the drivers’ standings with 25 points.
Since this is Perez’s first Formula 1 season, he requires some time to adjust in the sport and the team but still the team has been doing a pretty good job and they indeed are producing some very good drivers for the future.
