Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi says he will try to do his best in rest of 2011 season – Formula 1
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi has said that he will try his best for the team in terms of his performance in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Kobayashi added that he wants to join a bigger team after ending his contract with Sauber at the end of 2011. However, he has not yet decided the team he wants to switch to in near future.
The Japanese is driving for the Sauber team since the 2010 season. He has impressed his viewers many times by making decent progress during the Formula 1 races so far.
With regards to his performance in the ongoing season, the Sauber driver was moving in the right direction until the European Grand Prix, where he failed to deliver a strong performance on the grid. He could not score points for the team in the Valencia
race weekend and ended up at the 16th place.
The European race results have disappointed the driver, as he was expecting a very close finish to other strong runners following a successful Canadian Grand Prix.
The 24-year-old driver said, “I haven't thought about it. We still have 11 races so I think it's too early to say. It seems that at Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and whatever there is no space. We try to get the best and we will see. This my job ... not that
I decide, it's team owners who decide. I try to do my best to get the best results I can.”
He went on to mention, “Last year I had my best result here (6th). I suppose I could be strong as well for this year. I have the chance to get another big points [haul] here.”
Apart from that, Kobayashi said that he is focusing on his current job at the moment and that at the right time he will discuss about his future team in Formula 1.
The team has arrived at the main venue for the preparation of the British Grand Prix. Let’s see how Kobayashi manages his race at the Silverstone racetrack.
