Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg thinks C32 has potential to attain better results – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg has said that their car, C32 has got potential to attain better results, but they need to make some necessary developments to improve its pace to get the most out of it in the season ahead.
Hulkenberg performed convincingly well during the last season with Force India and moved to the Hinwil based squad as Sergio Perez’s replacement who has moved to Mercedes from his home team, McLaren.
The German driver has not been able to score competitive points for his team in the season so far. He has only been able to score points in two of the first four races and his best performance includes his 8th place finish in the Malaysian Grand
Prix held at Sepang International Circuit which he secured after taking a start from 12th grid slot.
At present, he is standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 5 points. Moreover, he is four points ahead of his main opponent, Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso.
Even though, he has not been able to achieve the desired results for his team. But, he has asserted that he is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
“It's a good feeling to be leading a grand prix - its shows you must have done something right,” he said. “It's definitely a good sign.”
Besides, he said that they just need to make few essential modifications in their car to enhance its pace in order to compete well with their rivals in the forthcoming races.
“It's a car with potential. It's a top 10 car and we can develop it into a consistent points-scoring car, I'm sure about that. It's our job to get it out of it but we're definitely not at the end in terms of development of the car,” he added.
He also stated that although he wants to win, but his main target is to improve his car in this season.
"I would have said, this year, the main target is to improve the car and make it into a car that can be in the points every weekend,” he said.
