Sauber driver Sergio Perez: Debut season feels like three years – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that his debut season in the sport feels like three years to him.
Perez added that he thinks his debut season proved as good for him, as he learnt a lot and has become better and better with every race of the 2011 F1 season.
The Mexican also mentioned that he is going to take part in the final Grand Prix of his debut season in Brazil next week. In addition, he stated that to him this season feels like three years, as so much has happened during that.
Perez commented, “Considering the fact that I had to miss two races in which the car and the team performed very well, I really think I can be happy with what I have achieved so far. Without doubt I am determined to finish this season, which I will personally
never forget, on a high.”
The Hinwil-based outfit driver has scored 14 points in the season so far. However, he added that he thinks he can be happy with what he has achieved until now.
In the 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Perez came at the 11th place in the final race classifications after starting from the same position at the Yas Marina Circuit.
He was happy with the Abu Dhabi race weekend, as he made a lot of progress during that.
On the other hand, the team’s technical director James Key is aiming to get points from the last round of the season.
He talked to reporters and mentioned that they want to extract the most out of the Brazil race in order to have better position at the end of the season.
Key went on to say, “There are two strategies, one which is a higher downforce setting where the middle of the lap is better optimised, and the other one is a lower downforce setting which is better for the long straight up the hill through to turn one and
then the second straight down to turn four.”
After completing 18 rounds of the season until now, the team Sauber is placed at the seventh place with 42 points in the constructors’ standings.
Let’s see how Perez performs in the 2011 Brazilian race weekend.
