Sauber driver Sergio Perez hoping for positive decision from the FIA – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is hoping for a positive decision from the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in the near future as he was recently cleared by his personal doctors after suffering an accident in the recent Monaco Grand
Prix.
However, in case of such incidents, the doctors of the FIA personally check the driver in order to make sure that the he is medically fit for the upcoming race or not.
Sergio Perez was involved in a devastating accident during this past weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session as a result of which he had to be admitted to the hospital. The young Mexican driver was unable to take part in the race however but he was
cleared by the doctors on Monday.
The Sauber driver suffered from a concussion but believes that he is ready for the upcoming race which is expected to take place in Canada in a week’s time.
“I feel very good and fit. Of course I want to race in Montreal, but I also know the final decision is up to the FIA doctors. I have never been to Montreal and know the circuit only from watching TV. Originally it was planned I would go to the Ferrari simulator
at Maranello, but this had to be cancelled after my accident,” said Perez.
He added that since his personal doctors cleared him for the upcoming race, he is confident that the FIA doctors will not create any sort of problem. However, Perez admitted that he is going to have a tough time learning the track ahead of the upcoming Canadian
Grand Prix.
“Anyway, it is not the first unknown circuit for me and I have never had difficulties adapting. I found it very hard to be just a TV spectator for the race in Monaco, and can't wait to get into the car again,” he added.
The 2011 Formula 1 season is a bit one sided at the moment as Red Bull Racing Team is currently dominating both constructors’ and drivers’ standings but the upcoming race is going to be interesting for McLaren and Ferrari. Let’s see how things turn out.
