Sauber driver Sergio Perez released from hospital after two days – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has been released from the hospital just two days after his accident during the qualifying session of the Monaco Grand Prix this past Saturday.
Perez lost control of his car while exiting the tilted right tunnel as a result of which he crashed into the barriers of the following chicane.
It was a very tragic sight as he was immediately taken to the hospital after which the doctors conducted several tests on him in order to make sure that the Mexican driver is alright and not suffering from any sort of injury.
However, the doctors revealed that they would be keeping him for another night on Sunday as Perez was suffering from a concussion. As a result, the young Sauber driver had to go through some brain scans as well before he was released from the hospital.
“Just left hospital, thanks to all of you for your messages. I'm pretty sure I will be driving in Montréal. I would do everything to make sure I can drive in Canada,” said Perez.
Nevertheless, it was quite disappointing for the young driver as he was unable to take part in the Monaco Grand Prix which is one of the most anticipated races of the season.
The upcoming race is expected to take place in two weeks time in Canada and it is believed that the Mexican driver will have to go through further assessment in order to be eligible for the Canadian Grand Prix medically.
“I feel okay. I have little bit of pain in my leg and in my neck, but this comes from muscles and is nothing to worry about. On Sunday I still felt a bit dizzy but that is all. Thank God I'm healthy and I'm looking forward to being back in the car soon,”
the Sauber driver told the media.
He added that the doctors and the staff treated him very well in the hospital as a result of which he thanked them all for curing him as soon as they could.
