Sauber driver Sergio Perez reveals his Formula 1 fantasies – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez recently talked about his personal life and shared some of his “fantasies” about Formula 1.
Sergio revealed that he would love to see a “Mexican Grand Prix” in the near future in the city of Guadalajara which is going to be the “best race ever” in Formula 1 in his opinion. Other than that, he stated that if he had a chance to choose his teammate
from any era of Formula 1, it would be Ayrton Senna as he believes that he is the best driver the sport has ever witnessed.
“For me he is the best driver ever. From the stories that I’ve heard about him, about how he led and pushed his teams forward, he would be my man. Learning from the best is what brings you forward. But I would want him as a team mate for only a few races
- otherwise he probably would beat me all the time,” said Perez.
However, he joked that he would like to perform better than him sometimes as well as it is quite frustrating when a driver’s teammate outperforms him at each venue.
Besides that, he added that if he had the chance to do so, he would like to introduce something entirely new to Formula 1, something similar to the reverse grid which is prevalent in GP2 and can help the teams a lot.
Sergio’s answer was quite interesting when he was asked how would he design his own circuit if he could combine some of the corners from all the circuits.
“Copse, the first corner at Silverstone, Turn Nine from Barcelona, Turkey’s Turn Eight and some sections of the Monaco track like the chicane after the tunnel. That would make a great circuit,” said the young Mexican.
Nevertheless, Perez is also one of those drivers who want faster engines in Formula 1 keeping in mind that his favourite circuit is Monaco where he claims that he can drive there forever.
