Sauber driver Sergio Perez says he is ready to race in European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has recently said that he is ready to race in European Grand Prix, as he is feeling absolutely fine after his crash in the Monaco Grand Prix.
The team driver did not take part in the Canadian Grand Prix, as he was not feeling 100 percent for the Montreal race weekend. After the morning Friday Free Practice, he complained of concussion. Meanwhile, Sauber contacted McLaren asking them for their reserve driver Pedro de le Rosa for the remainder of the race weekend. McLaren agreed to their request and de le Rosa raced in place of Perez in Montreal.
De la Rosa took a good start in the Canadian race weekend in place of Perez. He did not score points for the team, but successfully finished his race in the 12th place.
After the race, the Spaniard admitted that it was a great moment for him when he was driving for Sauber in the Montreal Grand Prix.
Apart from that, the team driver Perez is feeling well ahead of the Valencia GP. He said, “I flew home from Montreal, and back in Mexico I spent the time preparing myself for the next race and trained together with our physiotherapist.”
The Mexican went on to mention, “I feel perfectly well and I'm very much looking forward to racing in Valencia. Without doubt it is an advantage that I know this track well. In 2009 I was on the podium after both GP2 races and last year I had pole position.”
His teammate Kamui Kobayashi finished his race on the seventh place for the team. Sauber boss Peter Sauber is not satisfied with his driver’s performance in the Montreal Grand Prix as he was expecting a podium position from him.
After the Canadian GP, the team is expecting a podium place finish from both of their drivers in the upcoming Valencia Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2011 in Europe.
