Sauber driver Sergio Perez to test for Ferrari at Fiorano – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez will take part for Ferrari at the Fiorano test this weekend.
The Ferrari Driver Academy recently announced that Perez, who is currently driving for Formula 1 team Sauber, will test Ferrari’s F60 car at the Fiorano track this weekend.
The Mexican was confirmed by the FDA for the Fiorano test with GP2 driver and member of FDA, Jules Bianchi.
The team commented, “After that, the Mexican youngster who is racing in Formula One for Sauber, will get behind the wheel of an F60 for a session at Fiorano. He will be sharing the cockpit of the car used by Scuderia Ferrari in the 2009 F1 season with another
FDA youngster, Jules Bianchi.”
On the other hand, head of the FDA Luca Baldisserri talked with the team and added that they should analyse both of the drivers during testing.
Baldisserri mentioned, “It will be a very interesting test, because we will be putting Jules Bianchi and Sergio Perez up against one another. I think they will both be very motivated and for us it will be the perfect opportunity to assess both drivers.”
With regards to Perez performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season, he was not able to show his best run against his rivals in the recently held Italian Grand Prix.
The 21-year-old driver had an impressive start to the Monza race. He did a solid race until his first pitstop at the Monza racetrack, but when he rejoined the circuit after a stop, he lost his third gear. After completing 32 laps, he lost all of his car’s
gears and had to retire from the race due to that.
His teammate Kamui Kobayashi also retired from the Italian Grand Prix due to a gearbox issue in his C30 car.
After completing 13 rounds of the ongoing season, Sauber are at the seventh place behind Force India-Mercedes with 35 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship.
The Singapore Grand Prix is scheduled to be held on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Let’s see how both of the drivers perform in 2011 Singapore race following their retirement from the Monza race.
