Sauber drivers expected to use C30 seat fittings for 2011
Sauber did a pretty good job in 2010, as they were able to provide Kamui Kobayashi with a decent car, which enabled the young Japanese driver to finish 12th place in the drivers’ standings after scoring 32 points. On the
other hand, his team-mate for most of the season, Pedro De La Rosa, was unable to make an impression as he was just able to secure six points from 13 races.
After a disappointing performance by Pedro, the team decided to replace him with former driver Nick Heidfeld, who was unable to give an exceptional performance either. However he performed better than De La Rosa, as the German driver scored six points from
as many races.
Nevertheless the team recently revealed that they signed the young driver Sergio Perez for the 2011 Formula One season, alongside Kamui Kobayashi. According to some reports, the team is expected to use C30 seat fittings for their drivers next season.
Their technical director James Key is currently busy with the Sauber C30-Ferrari these days, as the team hopes to introduce their car around February, hopefully before the pre-season test sessions.
Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi were quite helpful and supportive about this development, as both of them helped the team ensure that they have the best possible package for next season. Since Christmas is around, both drivers are going to spend it with
their families in their respective home countries, and will learn how the changes will affect the car once they get back.
The team will issue a detailed report about their programme for next season followed by a couple of announcements. Kamui Kobayashi won the best rookie of the year award at the highly acclaimed Autosports awards, and it seems that the team is looking pretty
good compared to the rest of the mid-running teams regarding the developments process.
It would be interesting to see the changes the team makes to its car for next season, and it seems that only time will tell what 2011 has in store for Sauber.
