Sauber hope to attain better results in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber CEO Monisha Kalternborn says they are hoping to attain better results in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
The Swiss team could not score even a single point in the British GP at Silverstone Circuit as their updates in C31 didn’t provided the expected improvement in the race pace.
Nevertheless, Kalternborn expressed that they are not feeling upset over the uncompetitive outcome in the preceding race and asserted that they are ready to bounce back in the upcoming race with some major updates.
Moreover, he said that their car has been good in all the circuit while he said that their drivers, Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi are capable of achieving more. Besides, he said that they are going to try their best to come up stronger in the race ahead
so as to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“We have failed to score points this season several times and for variety of reasons. In hindsight it doesn't help to pine for those points, as now we have to move forward. The Sauber C31 has proved to be quick on all types of circuits. Plus we've got two
strong drivers, Sergio has been on podium twice this year Kamui has been able to shine with fourth in qualifying and fifth in race. Both have fastest race lap to their names. We have everything it takes to wind up first half of season in positive way, and
that's our aim for Hockenheim,” she said.
The Swiss team has emerged as one of the most competent midfield contenders in the current season. They are presently standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship with 60 points. Additionally, they are 38 points behind Mercedes and
13 points ahead of Williams.
Meanwhile, Perez is at 9th position in the drivers’ rankings with 39 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams and behind Jenson Button of McLaren.
Contrarily, his teammate, Kobayashi is at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 21 points. In addition, he is ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams and behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari. Let’s see how they perform in the approaching races.
