Sauber look forward to first pre-season test of 2013 – Formula 1 news
Sauber team owner, Peter Sauber has said that after securing competitive results in this season, they are looking forward to the first pre-season test of the 2013 Formula 1 season which is going to be held at Jerez circuit on February 5.
The Swiss team emerged as the strongest midfield contender in this year’s championship and secured fifth place finish in the constructors’ championship after performing tremendously well throughout the year.
Sauber has said that he has full confidence in his team and they are currently targeting to make the necessary developments in their car so as to come up stronger in the next season to attain better results.
“I’m very confident,” Sauber wrote. “Because the technical rules are not changing much, we can build on the C31. We are currently on schedule.
Furthermore, he said that he is hopeful that they will succeed in developing a competent car for the next season.
“I am convinced that on February 5 at Jerez we will put a fast car on the track,” he added.
It is to be noted that their driver, Sergio Perez who received a lot of appreciation in this season has planned to join McLaren in the next year as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement. On the other hand, Hamilton has decided to move to Mercedes in the coming season
and will replace the 43-year-old, Michael Schumacher who has said goodbye to the sport.
Nonetheless, the Hinwil based squad has found the perfect replacement of Perez and has signed a new deal with former Force India driver, Nico Hulkenberg for the coming season who has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the field.
Besides, Sauber expressed full support towards taking the German driver in the team for the next year and admired his performance in this season.
“I don’t need to say much about Nico Hulkenberg,” said Sauber. “What particularly impressed me in the second half of the season was how he dominated his highly rated teammate Paul di Resta.”
“And his performance in Sao Paulo inspired us all,” he added.
It will be thrilling to see how the most competent midfield team shows up in the coming season.
