Sauber is one of the most established teams in Formula 1, formed by motor mogul Peter Sauber. The team joined forces with BMW in 2006 , renaming the team BMW Sauber but in 2010 BMW decided to pull out of F1 altogether, returning
ownership so Sauber. Having been in Formula 1 for 13 years, the team will continue its run but will now have to do so under a new name though the team has yet to decide or confirm officially.
So far, the team stated that they had decided to rename themselves with reference to their parent company ‘Sauber Motorsport AG’. However, there were rumours that the team might keep change its name to Sauber F1 Team.
“We will communicate the name in due time. We have the [F1] Commission's approval to delete BMW from our name after the end of the season,” managing director Monisha Kaltenborn told the Media.
The team still hasn’t revealed their name for 2011 officially but since the team has been added to the 2011 grid, this matter won’t be a big problem for the team as they will try to keep their focus on the car they are preparing
for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
