Sauber target to improve qualifying pace in 2012 Formula 1 season ahead – Formula 1 news
Sauber-Ferrari chief executive officer, Monisha Kaltenborn has said that their main target is to improve their qualifying pace in 2012 Formula season ahead.
Sergio Perez of the Swiss team secured an amazing third podium finish after setting off from 15th grid position in the Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June.
Kaltenborn expressed that they are very much delighted with the performance of the Mexican driver in the last race. However, she said that they need to make the necessary arrangements to improve the performance of their car in the qualifying of the approaching
races so as to attain better results.
“It is our clear target to improve on qualifying because if we can manage to get car further in front on the grid, we can be far quicker and show even more potential, so this is really going to be our target to get further in front,” she said.
In addition, she said that they must find such solution to this issue which will not affect their race pace.
“I think that has also a lot to do with how we ourselves prepare ourselves in qualifying, and there are enough areas that we have to improve as a team and if we can manage to get qualifying session better together then we can really show these better kind
of results,” she said.
Sauber have emerged as one of the most competitive teams in the season until now as they are standing on 6th position in the constructors’ championship with 58 points. Besides, they are 11 points behind Mercedes and 14 points ahead of their main rival Williams.
Meanwhile, Perez is at 9th place in the drivers’ championship with 37 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams and behind Jenson Button of McLaren with 8 points.
On the other hand, his teammate, Kamui Kobayashi is presently at 11th position in the drivers’ rankings with 21 points along with Paul di Resta of Force India.
Over and above, they are making the essential preparations and are positively looking forward to perform well in the upcoming races.
