Sauber team owner Peter Sauber hopes not to miss his job – Formula 1 news
Former team principal of Sauber F1, Peter Sauber, who has recently handed over his responsibilities to Monisha Kaltenborn, hopes that he will not be missing his job.
Sauber is giving himself the opportunity to relax for the first time since he entered his team in the Formula 1 world in 1993. In an announcement made earlier this month, he had handed his post to Kaltenborn who had been the CEO for the team since 2010.
After his step down, Sauber has been worried if he will be missing his job and said, “It's difficult to say. I hope that I will not miss anything. I will have to get used to this new situation, but for sure there are very nice perspectives to come.”
Sauber said that it is not an easy decision to find a successor for a business that you have nurtured for years, especially for a sport like Formula 1. He admitted that he has been impressed by Kaltenborn’s work for the team over the years and that this
was proper time to give her the promotion. He is pleased and proud with his decision and said that there was no better solution than his current choice.
“When young people are willing to take on responsibility, it's important to give them responsibility. It's not the case that I don't like Formula 1 anymore, or that I'm tired. This is not the case,” he added.
He commented that it is not only Kaltenborn to whom the responsibility has been passed but also to the whole team. He confessed that despite he is still responsible for all the decisions as he will be continuing as the team president but the most important
decisions are taken on the race track. He is convinced that Kaltenborn can manage those decisions and the team pretty well.
Kaltenborn had first joined the team in 1999 as their legal advisor. Since the recent hand over, she has become the first woman to manage a Formula 1 team. She has stated that she is aware of the serious responsibility over her shoulders and will carry on
the values of Sauber for which the team stands for.
