Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi aiming for some good points at Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi has recently stated that he is aiming for some good points at the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix scheduled to take place this weekend, September 25.
Sauber have dropped down to 7th place in the constructors’ standings recently after a disappointing Italian Grand Prix.
The 2010 Singapore Grand Prix was quite disappointing for Kobayashi as well as he was unable to secure some good points despite the fact that he qualified in a very strong position.
“Last year we were quite competitive in Singapore. I made it into Q3, which is a nice memory - very different, of course, to the outcome of the race when I was lying ninth, but made a mistake when the tyres were quite worn and crashed,” Kobayashi said.
Force India have taken over 6th place in the constructors’ standings mainly because of the fact that Kobayashi, who is the senior driver of the team has not been able to score a single point since the past 3 races of the 2011 Formula
1 season.
His teammate Sergio Perez on the other hand has been going through the same situation and one can say that it is mainly because of the fact that their car was just not strong enough at those tracks.
“After the European races I'm now looking forward to going to Asia. Singapore has a very special atmosphere, because it is in the city and it is at night. Night racing I must say gives me an extra motivation, and I really enjoy it a lot,” he added.
Perez and Kobayashi have proved that they are both very good drivers and if they are provided with a strong and competitive car, they can score good points consistently in all sorts of situations.
Either way, there are 6 races left in the 2011 Formula 1 season and it would be quite disappointing for the team if they finish behind Force India in the constructors’ standings this year despite the fact that they have had a very strong run this year.
