The five-day Formula 1 Barcelona test session, that started on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 has entered its third day.
The first two days of session proved good for all F1 teams especially for Red Bull, who were clearly on top. However on day three, Sauber’s driver Sergio Perez beat Red Bull and posted the quickest time of the session.
12 Formula 1 teams except McLaren and HRT participated on day three of the session and tested on both soft and hard compounds of Pirelli tyres. However, Perez did his best run with a time of 1 minute and 21.761 seconds and registered 95 laps on the timesheets
while Red Bull’s Mark Webber finished in third slot.
Sauber technical director James Key told the media, “In the morning we started off with some general set up work, and then went into a qualifying practice, which was the first time we had run the car on low fuel. This was also the first time for Sergio to
go through all those procedures from Q1 to Q3.”
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa ended his final day and completed 132 laps in his new 150° Italia. The other Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso will join the last two days and will end the test session.
