Sauber’s Sergio Perez says he lost some momentum after Monaco crash – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he lost some momentum of his career after the Monaco crash, which he had during the qualifying round three at the Monte Carlo racetrack.
Perez added that he was doing a good job for the team until the Monaco crash. The accident forced him to miss both Monaco and the next Canadian race, as he was not fit enough to take part in the races.
The Mexican discussed the Monaco Grand Prix and admitted that he had a good start in the Monte Carlo race weekend, as he successfully finished his Friday Free practice session on the grid. In addition, he said that his start in qualifying round was strong
and he was moving in the right direction until the crash.
Perez told the media that Monaco accident discouraged him a lot for the remaining races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Despite his Monaco accident, Perez is aiming to regain his career momentum in 2011 Formula 1 season.
He said, “Physically it was a struggle for me, because of the impact on the head I still felt that it was not so easy to come back and jump in the car and drive again. It took me some time to adapt to everything again, but in the end everything was fine.”
After his complete recovery following the Monaco crash, Perez took part in the European Grand Prix, where he started his race from 16th place on the grid and ended up at the 11th place for the team.
The 21-year-old driver was disappointed after the Valencia race weekend, because he wanted to score some points for the team over there.
Apart from that, the youngest driver discussed the British Grand Prix and mentioned that he will try his best to give a better performance at the Silverstone racetrack.
He went on to add, “It was not so easy for me to come back and drive, but I did my best and I was still happy to finish 11th and for sure now I will be in a better shape for Silverstone.”
