Saudi Arabia cost of living required?

I have received an offer for 3000 USD per month, housing, medical insurance, transportation from home to work and return, annual air ticket from Home country (India) to Saudi & return.

I am an SAP Technical Consultant working in India and I hope to save about 4,80,000/- living in India in the coming year.

I need to know the cost of living in Saudi Arabia to understand whether this offer is financially viable. I have suggested some heads - House, travel, Food, expat medical insurance, gas/water/electricity, mobile, internet, leisure (eat-outs/clubbing/getaways), airconditioner, cable TV, one ticket per yr for home - me and partner, any other heads

Can someone please help as it will help me negotiate the offer.

Thanks in advance,

Prasad

  1. Very easily u can manage. You may save $2000 even if you live a luxury life with independent house & car.

  2. The offer is good.  I think you can easily save more than half if that's what your goal is.  Just don't go blowing money all the time.  Shop for clothes when there are sales or bring clothes from India.  It sounds like you're bringing your wife with you, is that right?  If so, you'll still be able to save at least half.

Your housing and medical is paid for, so that's a big advantage.

Food is not that expensive.  If you cook all the time, you can probably get by on less that 1000 riyals a month for food.  Restaurants can be pricey depending on where you eat.  Fast food is about 14-20 riyals per meal.  Nicer restaurants can easily cost 50 riyals per person and of course on up to hundreds of riyals per person.  Some Saudi restaurants are very cheap, like falafel, shawarma, and foul (beans).  You can eat for 3-6 riyals and be full.

utilities are reasonable.  not sure of the exact cost, but they may be included in your housing.

Phone - many plans are pay by the minute, so it depends how much you talk.

Internet - depends if you get fast or slow internet.  We used to pay 450 SR a month for Jawalnet unlimited since we couldn't get DSL where we were living.  DSL is better though.  Jawal is unstable and not reliable at all.

cable - I think everyone uses sattelite here, and I have no idea how much that costs.  Maybe it's part of your housing package.

Living in Saudi Arabia can be very very cheap or it can be extremely luxurious.  It really depends on you and your goals.  I definitely think you can live comfortably and save half your income a month.

  3. very good income for an Indian national... its about 11,250.00 saudi riyals per month. you will make more than some saudi's do..

and with all the amenities like housing, insurance, transportation and your annual air ticket.. you are good to go..

    wish we had that.... haha

you will be able to save a lot..

one note.. there are no clubs here, you mentioned clubbing.. no discos, bars, clubs in saudiarabia.. strict Islam moral code in everyday life here..

  4. very good income, its enough for u

  5. u r ok with this offer, other expensis will cost you in the range of 2500-3000 SR/month. go 4 it
