Saul Alvarez believes being speedy will beat Shane Mosley – Boxing News
Saul Alvarez, the current WBC super welterweight champion, believes that in order to defeat former world champion Shane Mosley he needs to be speedier. Saul Alvarez will step in the ring to defend his title against Shane Mosley on May 5 at the MGM Grand
in Las Vegas. The fight will be part of the ‘Mayweather vs. Cotto’ event.
While talking to the media about his preparations, Alvarez iterated, “I am training hard and making great progress,” stated Alvarez. “The determination that I have in this training camp will lead me to victory on May 5. I’m not thinking about what I need
to do and achieve in boxing. I’m 21 years old and I know that there will be many opportunities. But as I said, that does not affect me as a fighter now. I am proud of what I’ve accomplished to this point and will be proud of winning in May.”
Similarly, talking about Shane Mosley’s fighting style, especially his speed, Alvarez’s trainer remarked, “We will have a complicated fight. Shane Mosley is fast and dangerous with strong punches. He has a lot of experience but we’re working to overcome
it.”
It should be noted here that Saul Alvarez is an unbeaten fighter. However, many analysts and critics have often criticised him for not facing tough opponents or opponents of his calibre. In this context, this will be Alvarez’s career’s toughest fight. Shane
Mosley, in his interview earlier this week, said that he Alvarez is his son’s age and therefore he will teach him how to fight. In other words, Mosley emphasized on the fact that his experience and skills are unmatchable and Alvarez will have to bow down to
him.
Mosley is currently 40 and while many folks think he has lost his stint, he still believes in himself. According to Mosley, he never left going to the gym and will never do. He added that he has done and achieved everything he dreamed of in his career and
that now he needs to fight some of the best fighters in the industry before retiring.
For now, both the fighters are preparing hard for the big day.
