Saul Alvarez super confident ahead of his fight against Alfonso Gomez – Boxing news
The undefeated World Boxing Council’s Super Welterweight World Champion, Saul Alvarez, is super confident ahead of his world title fight against the 30-year-old Alfonso Gomez.
Alvarez and Gomez were present at the July 26, 2011 press conference in Los Angeles to officially confirm their world title fight, which will take place on September 17, 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The 21-year-old Alvarez, who has won 37 of his 38 fights (1 draw) including 27 by the way of a knockout, told the media he has no plans to take his opponent lightly. Therefore, he said he will come in his best shape on the fight night.
Alvarez stated he is one of those boxers who do a lot of talking before the fight and then fail to deliver but on the same note, the pugilist said Gomez will come to know who he is in September 2011.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “The only thing I want to say is I will prepare 100 percent for this fight and not take him [Gomez] lightly. I don't like to talk too much, so I'll keep it short. Everyone here knows the Mexican saying 'a dog that
barks, does not bite.' On September 17, Alfonso Gomez will know who Canelo is.”
Alvarez added, “I do my talking with my fists in the ring because I am a man, not a clown. I'm going to show this kid who Canelo is.”
In the meanwhile, Gomez, who has won 22 of his 28 professional fights including 11 by the way of a knockout, responded to Alvarez.
Gomez claimed he is going to ruin all of Alvarez plans as he will unleash his weapons on the fight night.
He said, “I am going to ruin all of their [Golden Boy Promotions' and Canelo's] plans. I am going to unleash this beast that is within me.”
After all the statements which have come up so far it is fair to say that it is going to be an explosive fight. However let’s see who wins the bout.
