By the end of the second day of play in the ongoing Ranji Trophy’s second quarter-final between Saurashtra and Karnataka, the latter trail by 424 runs with ten wickets in hand in their first innings at Saurashtra University Ground, Rajkot.

Saurashtra resumed their first innings from an overnight score of 272 for five on Monday, aiming to prevent an early demise.

The batting duo led their side towards 316 runs, before this partnership met its end on the wicket of Jani, who succumbed after jabbing a 36-run knock.
Vasavada was then joined by KR Makvana, and just when the fielding side thought they had a chance to strangle their opposition, the two batsmen forged a resounding collaboration, shredding the bowlers without any remorse.
The two batsmen put their side in a dominating position, as they took the score to 394. This was a nerve-racking partnership which broke the Karnataka bowlers, who just did not have any answer to the beating that was being handed to them.
