The Ranji Trophy, Group A, match between Saurashtra and Madhya Pradesh is equally poised with both teams on the verge of victory. While Saurashtra are in a better position, defending a massive score of 411 runs, Madhya Pradesh are not out cold yet, as they
require another 322 runs with 8 wickets remaining in their innings, after scoring 89 runs by stumps on Monday, at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
After getting bowled-out for 242 in their first innings, Saurashtra, gave a strong reply by restricting their opponents to 135, followed by an 18-run knock in their second innings at stumps on the second day.
SH Kotak and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209 resumed play on the third day, but they were unlucky as the pair met its end after only one run when Kotak was trapped in front of stumps by Pandey with six runs off his bat.
The third-wicket partnership between CA Pujara and skipper JN Shah was short-lived, as the pair led the side to 23 runs, before the captain had his stumps shattered all over the place by Pandey without scoring a run. This was a major blow for the batting
side, which put them on the back foot.
However, before things could take a turn for the worst, Pujara was joined by AV Vasavada, and the two batsmen, while playing tentatively, brought their side back in the game.
The two batsmen were patient and controlled their shots superbly to leave the bowlers in disgust.
After piling 182 runs on the board, Saurashtra suffered the loss of their fourth wicket on the departure of Vasavada for 55 runs.
Pujara was outstanding today, as he stayed unbeaten on a massive knock of 203 alongside RR Dave (25). His side, later, declared their innings with 303 runs on the board.
From Madhya Pradesh, IC Pandey was the best bowler with three wickets to his name in this innings.
Chasing a huge total, Madhya Pradesh had a terrible start, losing their first wicket with only 35 runs on the board.
They later, ended the day with opener Jalaj S Saxena on 46 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rameez-Khan-c83820 on four.
