Savannah King pockets Women’s 800m freestyle gold – Swimming news
Savannah King of UBCD pocketed gold medal of Women’s 800m freestyle on day one of the 2013 Mel Zajac Jr International at UBC Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 20-year-old King spoiled the party of her challengers as she sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. With her notable pace, she stayed in a comfortable lead over her challengers and touched the wall for the title.
King stayed prominent for the title from the start. With her commendable form, she showed no mercy to her opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal with the timing of 8 minutes and 39.30 seconds.
Britta MacLean of ESWIM, who was almost two seconds apart and clocked an effort of 8 minutes and 41.17 seconds, chased the champion.
The second best finisher was traced by Emily Brunemann of Club Wolverine-M, who stayed 0.54 seconds apart and touched the wall for bronze medal by producing an effort of 8 minutes and 41.71 seconds.
The third best finisher was chased by Lindsay Delmar of UCSC, who remained considerably slower from her foregoing finisher. Delmar remained almost 14 seconds behind and settled on the finishing wall for fourth position with the timing of 8 minutes and 55.34
seconds.
Sophia Saroukian of TAB, who stayed one and a half body length behind and posted an effort of 8 minutes and 56.93 seconds, obtained fifth fastest spot of the event.
Jess Thielmann of GSC-FL, who was two and a half body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 8 minutes and 59.47 seconds, obtained sixth position of the race.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Danica Ludlow of PGB, who was four and a half body length slower and touched the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 03.91 seconds.
Lindsey Clary of FAST-CA, who was considerably slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 08.05 seconds, obtained eighth fastest spot of the event.
Hannah C Burns of GSC-FL, who was 4.65 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 9 minutes and 12.69 seconds, chased Lindsey.
In addition, King received a huge round of applause from the audience for her notable pace while the position holders collected medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament after the race.
