  1. Am doing my best, one tree at a time. Instead of people in the neighborhood hiring an Arborist to properly trim trees, they hire locals who chainsaw the branches off too high or just totally remove the tree, if a long branch touches their roof. I did manage to save 2, 30-40 year old trees 2 weeks ago. My neighbor was going to have them both removed until I told her how much they are cooling her home in the summer and providing a wind break in the winter. She had only 1 branch removed as I suggested and I was so happy. Before that, she had 9 trees removed and they weren't in the way of anything. She didn't want all the leaves blowing around.

We have to reach one person at a time, and it has to begin with homeowners.

  2. Not just the Trees of everyone's respective Nation, but all over the World. Yes its time each and everyone of us should do their absolute utter best to save Trees and to plant more where they have been cut down and destroyed.

Here is a Awesome song to motivate us all to do so :-

There is unrest in the forest

There is trouble with the trees

For the Maples want more sunlight

And the Oaks ignore their pleas

    The trouble with the Maples

(and they're quite convinced they re right)

They say the Oaks are just too lofty

And they grab up all the light

But the oaks cant help their feelings

If they like the way they re made

And they wonder why the maples

Cant be happy in their shade?

There is trouble in the forest

And the creatures all have fled

    As the Maples scream `Oppression!`

And the Oaks, just shake their heads

So the Maples formed a Union

    And demanded equal rights

The Oaks are just too Greedy

We will make them give us Light

Now there is no more Oak Oppression

For they passed a Noble law

And the Trees are all kept equal

By Hatchet, Axe, And Saw ................

(By RUSH perhaps the Greatest Rock band ever)

  3. "Save our trees" you say, sitting on your wood framed chair, sitting in your wood framed home, with your little white wooden picket fence.   Isn't the oak trim lovely?  How many emails did you print out on paper today.  Before you chant for everyone else to save a tree, open your eyes and look around you!

And just who died and left YOU God?  What exactly makes them "OUR" trees?  That is the shallow self righteousness neo-Christian ethic that created the mess we're in!

  4. Me, Me, Me! I live in Tennesse (west) and it's beautiful and woodsy. There is a process here known as "clear cutting" where the loggers go in and cut down all the trees, mostly hardwoods. It creates an eyesore and it makes me sick when I see it.

If you're driving down the highway and look off towards one of the many hills, you'll see a huge bare swatch that has been clear cut.

The forestry people, and I have a friend that works for them, say it's good for the land, etc. They also say lots of other bull c**p.

Logging trucks are constantly going back and forth to and from the local paper mill, which is ironically within sight of my home.

It truly makes me ill  to think of all the trees we needlessly cut down to make consumer products. There are alternative means to making everything we currently make out of trees. Trouble is, the big forestry companies are paying off the politicians to keep being able to do things the same old way. It will never change until the money stops being slid under the table.

    Sad, but true.

  5. Plant more trees!  That may be the only way to counteract all the thoughtless cutting of our nations' trees.  Plant trees, give them as gifts, instead of buying a cut Christmas tree, buy a live one and plant it when the ground thaws.  Individuals can do small things to make a difference.

  6. the USA is cutting half a million hectares per year in Mexico ,they said it doesnt matter because the plant half a million hectares in the USA,and the overall equilibrium is not affected

    the USA  is so good

but read what is happening in the rest of the world

  7. Absolutely! They do so much for the us and the environment, plus more that we probably don't even know about yet.

  8. If you want to save the trees buy some land and leave the trees alone and then stop telling everyone else want to do with their own land.

  9. Every little corner around where I live is getting bull-dozed down for housing development of some kind or another. They take down ALL the trees, even though they can work around some to make the area more attractive plus aid in conservation a LITTLE bit.

Beautiful pines, oaks, maples that have been growing for decades; it really saddens me. I guess I'm just a tree-hugger at heart. And yes, the wildlife habitat is shrinking and then people will complain that there's too many deer or whatever. But their population only seems greater because they have to merge into our environment due to their's being lost.

  10. everyone should be concerned about saving our trees. they not only provide homes and hiding places for our wild creatures  but also provide shade and most important oxygen.

  11. There are more trees now that there have been in the past 100 years.

  12. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMEN

  13. yes! in fact, we should tear down houses, buildings, roadways and parking lots and plant trees in their place.   the first ones to go should be public school building.  they don't seem to be performing their function anyway.

  14. Totally agree. Save trees, plant native mixed woods and loads of fruit trees. Stop pulp(cash crop) tree production. Best thing anyone has said all night. You get a star.

EDIT: Properly managed mixed native woodland is sustainable, it sequesters carbon, provides habitat etc. Tree supporters have been criticized for having wooden products in their homes. Many timbers can and are reclaimed. Whereas man made products are expensive in many terms to the environment, in production and processing, in disposal in multiple handling and transportation.

When we say ''Save our trees" we are discussing natural native woodlands/habitats. Permaculture actively encourages people to grown their own native mixed woodlands to use the products to self care. This philosophy of people care, earth care and fair shares links across all religions, ages, abilities and gender.

  15. A-men- my friend. A-men.  :)

  16. Yes we to stop cut them down as much as possible, If we cut them down for lumber be sure to replant in each trees place. But I can't stand when people just cut trees down becuse they don't want them in their yards anymore. We are stewards of the earth and must practice conservation to keep it alive. If we take something away replace it. Keep her clean and renewed. We are reaping the cost of trashing our planet, she gives us signs in her natural disasters.

  17. It seems that some people in the US do whatever they can to earn $, but those same people may cry out about how wrong it is if someone else, especially in another country does something similar.

  18. I believe. Unfortunately, there is little that we little people can do to keep developers and papermakers from plowing them down. I do what I can, such as recycling and using post-consumer recycled papers.

What hurts the most is seeing the upland forest habitat in my area of north Texas being plowed under by housing developers. Instead of building one home per acre or two like they did in the middle of the last century, they are putting two or four homes on an acre. The dozens upon dozens of trees that used to sit on that acre of land get replaced by only 2 or 4 saplings out in the front yards.
