Save the planet?

Save the planet. Go green. Hybrid cars. Recycling. Conserve energy. What is this all really for? Saving the planet? I think it should be renamed, "Save our scared asses!" Yeah, i must admit, the planet is changing. The weather is getting uncontrolable, we are polluting it. But when we go as far as to say, save the planet, it seems like a joke. Heres something that i consider a fact: This planet of ours isint going anywhere, but we sure are. We must greatly consider that this planet is a living thing rather than just a ball of dirt in orbit. And like all living things, it protects itself when its in danger. But enough of my opinion, what do you think?

As an environmentalist whose summer job is to promote environmental awareness, I can see how the whole "going green" thing is really overdone and has somewhat become a fashion. There are large threats of consequences if we do not take care of the planet. Perhaps "save" is not the right word to use. I think control might be better. I'm just annoyed that it's so everywhere that people don't even want to hear about it. When you say "save the planet" it makes it sound like we have to all take ridiculous measures to prevent global warming. We don't! Simply doing our share in each area(recycling, composting, reducing, reusing, water and energy conservation) in small amounts will save the planet. People have to stop talking aboout going green and just do it. Don't know if this is what you wanted for an opinion but that's my take on it.

I totally agree and have said so in other post. I picture "Mother Nature" as a wash woman (like Carol Burnett's character) who is cleaning the pollution that we have caused and to her we are like ant to us. Sweeping hurricanes and tornadoes and floods.

So SAVE THE PEOPLE THE PLANET WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. IT SURVIVED WHEN THE DINOSAURS DID NOT.

Sounds like something from The Happening lol.  But yeah, the only reason we want to save the planet is so that we don't die.       otherwise it would be as big a deal as save the whales or save  the Northern Canadian Horsefly.   Even still, I think that most people  view the whole environmental thing as a fairytale; the world would have to be destroyed for us to actually believe it.
